Accomplishments include:

  • LGBTQ+ Pride Month Happy Hour & Q/A Discussion on the State of Pride documentary on June 26, 2020.
  • Lactation/Wellness Room located in Imperial Building started Summer 2019.
  • Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month Celebration on September 29, 2020 included a virtual cooking lesson.
  • International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2020 included assembling naloxone rescue kits on August 28, 2020.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion webpage on PopulationHealth.duke.edu
  • Reporting Structure resource document
  • Gender Pronouns presentation delivered to multiple department groups including managers and leadership, as well as at the Oct 15, 2020 DPHS Town Hall.
  • DEI Strategic Planning process that drove the committee's focus from October 2019—February 2020.
  • National Disability Employment Awareness Month event on Oct 30, 2020 included discussion on the Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution documentary.
  • The Climate Survey that had 75% completion during Year one had 75% completion, and 94% completion during Year two!
  • DEI Hiring Toolkit which includes multiple supporting documents and processes that backup fair and diverse hiring practices.
  • November DEI Newsletter highlighting Native American History Month, Diwali, and the Virtual Gratitude Tree.
  • The DEI Foundational Training educational series comprised of six training sessions, the first of which was on Oct 26, 2020, and the last on April 14, 2021.
