Central to the Department of Population Health Sciences’ mission is the preparation of the next researchers and practitioners who can advance health through discovery and the translation of those discoveries into policy and practice.
Population health science spans and integrates disciplines. Because the determinants of health and health disparities can be diverse, the knowledge, theory, and tools that researchers bring to a question must be expansive enough to probe these influences effectively.
The department’s education program includes:
- A Master of Science (MS) in Population Health Sciences
- A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Population Health Sciences
- A K12 Research Grant
- Offerings for researchers and practitioners including an annual Summer Institute providing focused, intensive study with department faculty
