Speaker:
Inactivity during hospitalization has been recognized as a key contributor to hospital-associated disability and other harms for decades. Walking programs have emerged as a strategy for reducing functional decline among hospitalized older adults, yet they are not widely available in U.S. hospitals. Dr. Hastings will discuss her work implementing and evaluating a hospital mobility program known as STRIDE. She will specifically highlight results from a stepped-wedge implementation trial and the motivation and design for an ongoing study in 35 hospitals comparing implementation approaches.
