Part two of a two-part event addressing maternal child health By attending this session, you will: - Identify U.S. and N.C. health disparities in maternal/infant mortality and morbidity. - Develop an understanding of the importance of community engagement and the community's voice in having a culturally appropriate and concordant maternal workforce. - Gain insights into the role of a doula in bridging the gap between underserved and marginalized communities and how community-engaged research findings support this approach to address systemic disparities. - Understand how doulas bridge the gap between the underserved, non-privileged, and marginalized communities. - Understanding the role each person plays in the puzzle of injustice. - Examine, understand, own, accept, and correct our own personal conscious and unconscious biases and respectfully help others see their biases.
