BRIDGE Scholars Update: J'Mauri Jackson

DPHS is always excited to see our former students and BRIDGE Scholars continue to find success in their academic and professional pursuits.

We're currently celebrating the achievements of J'Mauri Jackson, a 2022 DPHS BRIDGE Scholar, who was awarded a graduate research fellowship at the Center for Racial Justice with the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy. She will work with Dr. Moya Bailey on her documentary "Misogynoir in Medicine," which focuses on Black women's experiences with gendered racism in medical settings.

While she continues to pursue success in her PhD and fellowship programs, Jackson will also serve as Student Representative for the Section on Medical Sociology with the American Sociological Association for 2023–2025.

Jackson was also honored in July with the 2023 Student Paper Competitions and Outstanding Scholarship Award. The award, presented by The Society for the Study of Social Problems (Educational Problems Division), recognizes Jackson’s exceptional paper “The Commodification of Diversity in the Context of School Choice.”

Congratulations!
