Amelia was born in Durham, North Carolina, in a community that fostered an early interest in psychology and social issues. After high school, Amelia moved to Boston to attend Tufts University, where she pursued a degree in Psychology and Spanish. Her studies at Tufts allowed her to explore the relationship between culture, language, and mental health, shaping her academic and career goals.
During her time at Tufts, Amelia had the opportunity to intern at the Jamaica Plain Community Health Center as a case manager. This experience gave her valuable exposure to community health issues, including mental health services, public health outreach, and healthcare accessibility. In addition to her internship, Amelia was also involved in volunteer work through a tutoring program for incarcerated individuals. This experience deepened her commitment to social justice and reinforced her desire to work with these vulnerable populations.
Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Amelia enjoys spending time in nature and engaging in outdoor activities, particularly hiking and gardening!
