Dr. Bartholomew Brigidi is a clinical neuropsychologist and neuroscientist working with Dr. Charles Muiruri in Duke Population Health Sciences (DPHS). His work in DPHS integrates his clinical background in neurocognitive and psychological evaluation and intervention strategies that include the use of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, with research expertise in executive function and decision-making skills to study and break down barriers of social determinants of health.

Previously, Dr. Brigidi was Assistant Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Surgery and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center. In that role he was awarded a K12 Clinical Scientist Institutional Career Development grant and became the founding Director of the Cancer and Cognition lab at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Dr. Brigidi then served 15 years as the Associate Director of the Laboratory of Neurogenetics at Duke, and together with his colleagues produced a large body of research on the effects of adversity, stress and trauma on brain structure and function.

Dr. Brigidi is a great addition to the team as we strive to focus on research and interventions that promote inclusive, patient-centered, preference-based medical care, collaboration between people seeking medical care and health providers particularly within marginalized and vulnerable populations.
