Dr. Fern serves as Chief Administrative Officer of the Department of Population Health Sciences and leads their business and research operations. Before joining Duke University School of Medicine, he worked as Associate Chair for Finance and Administration in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously, Dr. Fern founded a software startup, worked as a strategy consultant, and served as a tenure track professor of business strategy and entrepreneurship in the United States, Canada, and South Korea.
Dr. Fern received his BS in Business Administration from the University of Oregon and PhD in Strategic Management from the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
