Rebecca Fillipo holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from Temple University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Drexel University. She worked as a physical therapist for five years at the Duke Spine Center and the Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery before transitioning into the Population Health PhD program, focusing on musculoskeletal and pain epidemiology and health measurement. Her current research uses epidemiologic methods to examine the role of psychological distress in the transition to chronic low back pain, as well as health measurement methods to comprehensively assess physical functioning. Rebecca is interested in leveraging real-world evidence to study health outcomes and enhance patient-centered care.
In her free time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 cats, running, hiking, biking, and gardening (including caring for their chickens!).
