Pop Health’s inaugural class of Master of Science students has arrived from as far away as Tanzania and as close as Durham. On Aug. 12, the students began a two-week orientation to the department and Duke in Classroom A, home to the master’s program’s first-year courses. Education program faculty and staff answered questions over breakfast on topics from textbooks to parking spaces. The orientation includes primers in SAS and R programming and Duke’s Responsible Conduct of Research training, with social events as well. Classes begin on Aug. 26 at 8:30 am with PHS 701 Analytic Methods I.
